Labour Unions Councillor Network
Labour Unions are the 11 trade unions that are part of the Labour Party. We bring the collective voices of 4 million people to the heart of the party and campaign for a Labour Government that will transform the lives of working people for the better.
The Labour Party was formed out of the trade union movement to give working people their own political voice. The link from the workplace to the party through 11 affiliated trade unions is what makes Labour unique. This link is more important than ever as we work together to tackle the urgent problems we face as a country, from stagnating wages to failing public services.

Local government is the frontline
Labour councillors are where policy meets people. You’re making decisions about housing, social care, planning, and local services every day. You hear directly from workers in your ward — the care worker on a zero-hours contract, the bus driver whose route got cut, the family stuck in temporary accommodation.
The trade union movement has always understood that power is built from the ground up. Affiliated unions organise in the workplaces of this country. Labour councillors organise in its communities. Together, we represent the same people — and we’re stronger when we work as one.
The Labour Unions Councillor Network exists to join those dots. To make sure the voices of 4 million affiliated trade union members reach into every council chamber where Labour holds seats.
