After years of austerity, the cost of living crisis, Covid and falling living standards, it’s no wonder we are all crying out for hope again. But of course hope is not enough – we need to see and feel change too.
That’s why it’s so important that the Government show whose side they are on – including on workers’ rights. We’re proud of the promises made in Labour’s New Deal for Working People – from the right to a guaranteed hours contract for all workers, to ending fire and rehire, to removing discriminatory age rates in the minimum wage. But workers need to see and feel the benefit of it being delivered in full: no loopholes, no backtracks.
Andy’s vision of hope is for good growth and power in every postcode – that must mean power in every workplace too.
We know from Makerfield that when we stand together for hope, we can win. That’s why it’s so important we unite as a movement behind the vision of hope – and work together to make sure that our Labour Government also delivers the change workers need as well.
We can all play our part. Spread the hope, Share it with your family and colleagues. Bring it to your branch and CLP meetings. And when you’re out campaigning, take it to every doorstep.
Because hope, solidarity and change is how we win – with unions as true partners. And together, we can do this.
