SOLIDARITY OVER DIVISION
TOGETHER for a New Deal for Working People
One day conference, Saturday 24 January, Durham
ABOUT THE DAY
This one-day conference will bring together union reps, organisers, activists and allies from across the labour movement at a key point in time, as new rights at work are on the way with Labour’s Employment Rights Act – and as we face the urgent task of combating the rise of Reform and pushing back against their divisive politics. We’ll hear from senior trade union and political leaders, including Joanne Thomas, Chair of Labour Unions, and Angela Rayner MP.
There is a £10 delegate fee, which covers lunch and refreshments. Register below to attend and scroll down for more information.
Personal data collected through this form will be shared with the event organisers for the purpose of organising and delivering this event, including registration, event communications and follow-up. WHAT TO EXPECT
The conference will cover three urgent priorities for the movement: how we secure the New Deal for Working People in full, how we respond to the growing threat of Reform’s divisive and anti-worker politics and the importance of the labour union link:
- Workshops from Thompsons Solicitors and Hope Not Hate on workers’ rights and taking on the far right and sessions
- Hearing from union and political leaders.
- Strategy to take on political threats and opportunities in our region – including how we beat Reform at the ballot box and in hearts and minds.
- Space to share what’s working, what’s not and how we take the next steps together.
- Time to build connections, swap ideas and strengthen solidarity across unions in the region.
The Employment Rights Act shows what unions and Labour can achieve together. It opens new opportunities to recruit and organise and shifts the balance of power in the workplace. This is a moment to celebrate what we’ve achieved so far, but also to focus on how we deliver the New Deal in full, and how we ensure working people feel the benefit of these new rights in their lives.
