POLITICAL SCHOOL
LONDON, June 20-21 2023
OurĀ politicalĀ schoolĀ will run from Tuesday June 20th until Wednesday June 21st, with accommodation booked for Monday June 19th. We will be working from two locations. On Tuesday weāll be inĀ the Houses of Parliament, and on Wednesday weāll be atĀ UNISON HQ in Euston 130 Euston Rd. London NW1 2AY.
Training will start at 9am promptly both days and finish by 4:30pmĀ on Wednesday.Ā As we will be working on the Parliamentary estate, please bring photo IDĀ (eg. passport/driving licence)Ā toĀ help ensure access toĀ Parliament.
Monday 19th JuneĀ Ā
Accommodation provided at the St Pancras Premier Inn. There are no organised activities.
Your accommodation has been booked from the evening before we start, Monday 19th at the Premier Inn St Pancras. Itās close to Euston,Ā King’s Cross and St Pancras International stations.Ā Please make your own arrangements for travel, and for dinner on Monday evening and seek reimbursement from your union.

Tuesday 20th JuneĀ
Meet by 9am for photos, then a day in Parliament. Ā Meet by 9am on theĀ riverbank oppositeĀ Parliament to take group and individual photos. This is a short walk from Westminster tube station. Itās the best location for headshots with Parliament in the background. Please think about what youād like to wear, as this could be a useful photo for a leaflet in future.
Route from Westminster to photo meeting place
Make your own way to Westminster, and meet at the South end of Westminster Bridge, on the river bank. Go down the steps from the bridge on the side of the bridge on the hospital side. The nearest tube station is still Westminster. Any issues finding us please call Robbie 07957 160 132 or Helen on 07811 371 861.
Once we have done the headshots and group photo, weāll walk together back over the bridge and go through security together.
Weāll spend the day together in Parliament.

Afternoon ā workshops with policy experts.

Essential Course PreparationĀ Ā Ā
We will be running hustings practice to feel close to a real hustings event.Ā Please be ready to deliver an 8-minute speech, as close to how you would deliver it in a real hustings as possible. It should explain why Party members should select you to be their candidate for Parliament, Council or the devolved institutions.
