Our rights are at risk
The Tories are at it again. Amidst all the chaos they have unleashed and in the middle of a cost-of-living crisis, they are still pushing ahead with a Bill that puts our hard-won rights at risk. A Bill that puts our rights at risk had its Second Reading in Parliament this week. The Retained EU Law Revocation and Reform Bill will determine the future of around 2,400 EU laws that were kept on the UK statute book after Brexit. The Bill means that all those rights will automatically end at the end of next year, unless Tory Ministers decide to keep them on the books. Do you trust the Tories to do the right thing?
What’s at risk? Paid holiday, limits on working hours, equal treatment for agency workers and part-time workers, rights for parents to take time off to care for children, written terms and conditions, rights for pregnant and new mums like paid time off for antenatal appointments and safety at work, and decades worth of case law are all at risk. We have to make sure the Tories know that these rights were hard-won, and that we won’t stand for them being cut away.
Will you join us next Wednesday, in London, to send a message to the Government: protect our workplace rights, defend the right to strike, demand a proper payrise, and call for a General Election, now!
We know exactly what the Tories stand for when it comes to our rights. Their Employment Bill is missing in action and just last week we heard they’re bringing forward proposals that undermine the right to strike. It’s because we can’t trust the Tories with our workplace rights that we need these rights, hard-won by trade unions over decades, to be enshrined in law.
Join us next Wednesday, 2 November, in London as we stand together to tell the Government they have no mandate for a bonfire of our rights at work – no mandate to undermine the right to strike – and no mandate to stand by and do nothing while bills spiral and wages fall. We need a General Election, now.
The people should not have to pay for Tory failure – join us and make your voice heard!
